Happy New Year!

The holidays were a whirlwind of travel, family time, and an abundance of delicious food. Now that we’re a week into 2025, I can already tell it’s going to be an incredible year. One of the highlights so far has been experimenting with my boyfriend’s new pizza oven, a Christmas gift that has quickly become our favorite toy. Our first attempt—a vegetarian personal pizza—was an unmitigated disaster. It came out half-cooked on the bottom, charred on the edges, and raw on top. It wasn’t exactly edible, but it was still a blast to make! Plus, it was great seeing his enthusiasm to troubleshoot and improve. After more than a dozen attempts, a few helpful YouTube tutorials, and an infrared thermometer to refine the process, we’ve officially achieved pizza perfection!

Lately, I’ve also been diving more into breadmaking and experimenting with new recipes. Tucked away in my cupboard is a dehydrated sourdough starter gifted to me by my grandmother—a treasure I’ve been meaning to bring to life for almost two years. When I first attempted sourdough a couple years ago, I wasn’t experienced enough, and it didn’t quite pan out, but I’m determined to try again. Armed with a bit more research (and patience), I’m excited to embark on this journey. After all, there’s nothing quite like the reward of fresh-baked bread straight from your oven.
